Colchester-Harrison draws international acclaim at EMO 2007

Machines valued at over one million Euros were sold within the first few days of EMO 2007, directly from Colchester-Harrison's exhibition stand.

Machines valued at over one million Euros were sold within the first few days of the show directly from the exhibition stand of Colchester-Harrison at the recent EMO 2007 exhibition in Hannover with director Mike Berry praising the event as one of the best international exhibitions he has ever attended for interest in the latest product range.

Central to the Heckmondwike machine builders’ international objective was the development of the new branding of Colchester-Harrison with the Tornado and Alpha lathe ranges and newly developed Storm vertical machining centres to which Mike Berry reflects: “The reaction from the network of distributors around the world was very positive with projected orders and enquiries still coming in but already easily doubling previous levels.  Around 60 per cent of enquiries were from the very demanding German market, which is a sign the specifications and pricing structure are both very competitive,” he said.

He maintains “This show was opportune for us with the new heavy duty Tornado T4HD, the uprated MS and MSY mill/turn centres and the German market in particular expressed considerable interest in the control system and flexibility of the large capacity Alpha 1800XS combination lathe.”

The introduction of the new range of Storm VMCs was well received by distributors worldwide due to the breadth of the machine range.  The new range provides a solution in the SP models for general purpose subcontracting work at a very competitive price, the SD for heavier duty demands and the high accuracy, higher speed machining scenarios are met with the SN and SV variants.

Adds Mike Berry: “These machines are pitched against a whole raft of competitors and our distributors from Germany, France, Benelux, Scandinavia and Russia were keen to exploit the distinct advantages for them to sell in their home territories.  It was also satisfying that the overall specifications of both the turning and milling products drew serious interest from new companies approaching us to represent the Colchester-Harrison range in the very competitive Far East and South American markets.
