600 Centre Unveils New Colchester-Harrison Heavy Duty Lathes
The UK’s fastest growing machine tool distributor has extended its product portfolio with the launch of the new Typhoon range of heavy duty slant bed lathes and Mill/Turn CNC lathes from Colchester-Harrison.
600 Centre, which is based in Shepshed offers a comprehensive range of lathes, machining centres, grinders, wire and die sink EDM machines, has launched the new Typhoon to meet customer demand for a heavy duty milling and turning solution that offers quality, accuracy and speed – all for a competitive price.
The Typhoon range initially features two models; the 310M, which features turning and milling with C axis, and the 310MY, which also features an additional Y axis. Both machines’ specifications have been designed to rival that of leading competitors. They are equipped with a 12 station hydraulic turret and weigh 5,600 kg and 6,000 kg respectively.
The single piece Meehanite cast iron bed is heavily ribbed to offer maximum rigidity and the head stock features a unique advanced circular rib construction to ensure utmost rigidity and thermal stability. This superior robust design helps to ensure dynamic and thermal stability, thus leading to extremely high metal removal rates and excellent surface finish, as well as helping to increase tool life.
Both machines feature the latest state-of-the-art Fanuc Oi-TC controls together with a 10.4 ” colour screen and Manual Guide I conversational programming software. This powerful software means that they are quick and easy to programme for even the most complex of components - and as no ISO programming knowledge is required, they can be used with only the minimum of training.
In addition to standard specification, there are also a number of machine options, including a fully programmable tailstock, Renishaw motorised tool setting arm and Renishaw workpiece measuring probe.
The machines have been designed to complement the existing Colchester-Harrison range and deliver the company’s trademark levels of accuracy, quality, reliability and cost-efficient tooling capabilities. The entire range comes with a two year warranty as standard.
Speaking about the launch of the new Typhoon David Wilkinson, sales director at 600 Centre said:
“Over the past year, we have experienced a growing number of enquiries for a heavy duty slant bed lathe, so we are delighted to announce the launch of the new Typhoon range which will meet this growing demand.
“The Typhoon is aimed specifically at those needing higher metal removal rates with maximum rigidity, durability and reliability. This machine is easy to programme and set and is ideally suited to the sub-contract sectors demand for flexibility and a quick turnaround.
“We are set to take delivery of the first machines towards the end of October and are confident that their specification combined with their competitive price will make them one of our best selling products.”
